Indian Cultural Association of Pittsburgh (ICAP)

Our Students

As our mission statement states, our focus is to provide knowledge of the Hindi language and Indian culture to our students and have been successfully doing this since the establishment of the ICAP. We attribute this success to keeping the core focus the same, with little or no change. We do adapt and assimilate necessary changes into our organization, to keep current with the cultural changes.

Our students range from the kindergarten to high school seniors. The classes are made up of students with similar knowledge level of the Hindi language and Indian culture.

The following are some of the class groups from the past years. To facilitate individualized instruction, classes generally have about five to six children.

Cultural Programs

The Diwali Program

Diwali or Deepavali is the Indian festival of lights, which is one of the India's most popularly celebrated festivals. All of ICAP students participate in bringing this joyous festival to the Pittsburgh area by holding and annual Diwali program, which is held in the North Hills area.

The Hindu-Jain Temple Sthapana program

The annual temple "Sthapana" or inauguration celebration program is another venue in which all children of ICAP participate. We proudly showcase the talent and artistic abilities of our students before the Indian Community of the region at this function.
